The HALO-Flight staff is comprised of well trained pilots, nurses, paramedics, communications specialists and administrative personnel who take personal pride in serving the South Texas area. 
The testing process for hiring of medical crews is broken down into three sections:  1)Oral Interview, 2)Written Exam and 3) Hands-on Critical Care Practical Exam.  Testing is highly concentrated on the critical care patient.

Minimum Requirements:

Flight Nurse - Registered Nurse with a minimum of three years experience in critical care (Emergency Department and/or ICU/CCU) with the following certifications: (Will consider RN with two years experience if Paramedic experience is also met as below)

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • TNCC or Trauma equiv.
  • PALS, ENPC or equiv.
  • Heavy preference for pre-hospital experience
  • Prefer: CEN, CCRN, CFRN (must obtain one within 12 months of hire)
  • All crew members must obtain ATLS audit and NRP certificate within 12 months of hire

Flight Paramedic - Texas Certified or Licensed Paramedic with a minimum of four years of MICU experience in a high volume 911 system with the following certifications:

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • ITLS or Trauma equiv.
  • PALS  or equiv.
  • Must obtain FP-C, CCEMT-P or CCP-C within 12 months of hire.
  • All crew members must obtain ATLS audit and NRP certificate within 12 months of hire.
