ADVANCED EMT CERTIFICATION COURSE

HALO-Flight EMS Training Academy is excited to announce that we now offer Advanced EMT courses.

This course is scheduled for June 16, 2014 and will be held in Alice, Texas. The course length is approximately six months. Class will be held three nights weekly: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday evenings, from 6:00 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. There will be some Saturday labs from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. during the course.

The course consists of 243 classroom hours, 48 hours of hospital clinical internship and a minimum of 96 hours of precepted ambulance rotation. Prerequisite for entry into the Advanced EMT course is a current Texas DSHS EMT certification. A criminal background check will be required of all students which must be obtained through our contracted provider. A current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR is required prior to clinical internship. For students without a current CPR certificate, a course will be provided, at a cost of $45. Required documents to bring on the first class night include High School diploma or GED and current immunization records (including Hepatitis B series, MMR, and Tetanus).

The cost of the course is $1,200.00. The cost will cover tuition, student insurance, textbook, supplemental materials and an Academy uniform shirt. It does not cover the criminal background check, CPR certification or personal items such as the black trousers, black leather footwear, stethoscope, scissors, penlight, or immunizations required for clinical and ambulance internship.

Prerequisite for entry is a high school diploma or GED and a minimum age of 18 by the end of the course. A criminal background check will be required of all students. A current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR is required prior to clinical internship. For students without a current CPR certificate, a course will be provided, at a cost of $45, at the beginning of the EMT course. Required documents to bring on the first class night include High School diploma or GED and current immunization records (including Hepatitis B series, MMR, and Tetanus).

EMT course announcements will be posted on our webpage approximately 45-60 days prior to the start of class. The next scheduled EMT course will be in January 2015.
