Safety In the Air

1.All three of HALO-Flight's Bell 407 helicopters are equipped with state of the art avionics. The Chelton Synthetic Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) allows the pilot to have a 3D view of the terrain around him presented via a flat panel with a heads up display look. The system audibly warns of towers and other aircraft in the area before the human eye can detect the danger. The Terrain Awareness and Warning System (TAWS) visually depicts terrain changes and audibly warns of altitudes that are to low for the changing environment. It is able to predict the aircrafts future flight path and advise the pilot of changes that need to be made.

2.The on-board WSI AV-300 Satellite Weather system gives the pilot an up to the minute look at the weather allowing him to avoid expected or unexpected weather systems that can suddenly develop.

3. The SkyConnect Tracker with multiple channel dialer allows HALO-Flight's crews to make phone to phone calls anywhere and allows HALO-Flight's dispatch center to know exactly where the aircraft is at every moment. The communications operator is able to follow the aircraft via computer screen and have minute to minute coordinates, speed, altitude and direction of travel throughout each mission.

4. All crew members are equipped during night flight with NVAG-6 Night Vision Goggles. These lightweight helmet mounted goggles turn night into day allowing the crew to identify dangers such as wires, signs, people and vehicles during scene flight landings necessary for their life-saving mission.
